In 2018, The State’s of Guernsey were considering a streamlining of their educational estate, consolidating secondary education into two larger high schools. This was also part of moving away from their grammar school system to non selective education.

We undertook an extensive desk top study across the island’s estate, reviewing the viability of various options and locations.

Being the newest school with some of the best facilities, LBHS was identified as having scope for expansion. We developed a second courtyard scheme, based on the same architectural language as the original building.

The scheme was taken through stage 4 to tender.
