As part of streamlining the educational estate and consolidating secondary education into to two larger high schools, we were asked to look at expanding provision of general teaching space at St Sampsons School.

Speed of construction and economy of scale were key drivers, so we adopted a simple strategy of stand alone buildings, with a receptive vertical facade. To give identity and support intuitive way finding, we proposed a strong colour strategy based on the seasons and the deciduous trees surrounding the site.

The phased new buildings were connected with a series of bridges and walkways linking back to the host building.

The project was developed through Stage 4 to tender, but unfortunately, was not progressed following a restructuring of the educational estate.
